By stimulating the body’s natural ability at the deepest level,
Reiki removes physical and emotional blockages that may have been
causing illness or upset for some time.
The essence of reiki is to cleanse the body and balance the chakras
(the body’s spiritual energy centres), bringing harmony to
mind, body and spirit through a detoxifying process as |
|
well as promoting a more positive attitude. Reiki differs from other
healing methods because of its attunement procedure and the fact that
the energy originates from the ‘universal source’ rather
than directly from the healer. Many
people fall into a ‘reiki sleep’ when being worked on,
as the treatment is so relaxing. Reiki goes where it is needed, activating
the body’s natural healing ability.

Many
different ailments can be cured or relieved by reiki. Problems such
as headaches, backache, sinusitis, menstrual problems, digestive
upsets, injuries, irritable bowel syndrome and stress-related illness
all respond well to reiki, Chronic illnesses, such as arthritis
or asthma, will also benefit from reiki, but require repeated treatments
for an improvement to be seen.

A
reiki treatment
During
a treatment the healer lays his or her hands on 12 body positions
– 8 on the front and 4 on the back. The laying of the hands
connects the healer to the life force energy, which then flows through
the client’s body removing any blockages or restrictions that
are causing illness, discomfort or upset in the mind, body or spirit.
During the 45-minute treatment (one-hour consultation) sometimes
heat, a cool feeling or a pins and needles or throbbing sensation
is felt, often in the areas that really need the healing energy.
After treatment a client can feel very relaxed and at peace or possibly
a bit ‘spacey’, so it is advisable to sit quietly for
a few minutes before going home. Water should be drunk during the
next 24 hours to aid the detoxification process.
Reactions to treatment vary as the healing energy goes where it
is needed, and both the healer and client are affected. Pain can
miraculously disappear from ailments such as headaches or backaches.
Creative ideas or solutions to problems can surface: sometimes you
hear the answer in your head, or, more painfully, old emotions can
make you tearful or anger can be released. People can sometimes
feel aches in old injury areas as the scar tissue receives the healing
energy, and sometimes there is a need to go to the toilet more regularly,
but this is nothing to worry about as it is all part of the purification
process.
FAQ’s
How
exactly does reiki affect the body?
Reiki
goes where it is needed; the healer is just the conduit. The energy
works its way through the body’s meridians (energy channels)
affecting both the organs and chakras (spiritual energy centres),
so if you have an injury or a stomach ache, for example it will
flow particularly to this area. The energy also cleanses and detoxifies
the body ridding it of unwanted waste products.
Will
I feel anything during the reiki treatment?
You
will often feel heat from my hands during treatment, which means
more energy is needed in that area. A tingling sensation can mean
the presence of inflammation, while a cool sensation can indicate
an energy blockage.
